An Activity Report for 2012 plus our Outlook for 2013

This our 7th year has yet again been a packed one in terms of  the projects we support (the last Activity Report is available on request at info@solidaile.org) and 2013 looks set to be just as busy.

One of the main developments of the past year has been the setting up of a new collaboration in Morocco with a group of 45 apple producers. Thanks to the work of 2 agronomists these producers have benefitted from technical training in pomology (learning about the size of trees, soil cultivation, etc.) in order to improve the yield of their land.

In Caral, our second collaboration with the Solida’rire Association has allowed for the building of a library which will benefit and help the children of the region.

As far as our agricultural projects are concerned we have had excellent results both in San Miguel (in coffee production) and in Pucharini for the Sacha Inchi. The outstanding work of the agronomists in collaboration with the local participants has created a real impetus with progress being made in the search for new outlets.

Looking forward to 2013, the Solida’rire Association (students at INP in Grenoble) has decided for the 3rd year running to join forces with us on one of our projects in the Local Cooperative of ‘Ally Ruray’ to both raise funds for the purchase of a plot of land and to take part in the building of a new workshop which will include a section dedicated to the training of young adults in carpentry.

Also worth noting is the work being done by a group of medical students alongside Solidaile on a second building project: the Ashaninka Centre. The aim is to convert a site which would be dedicated to health care and all activities relating to this such as the study and use of plants. Such a project will allow them to use their knowledge and develop their skills in an appropriate place whilst at the same time offering the local population better access to care in their area.

Finally, under the direction of Philippe Toumire (Vice- President) several media students have come forward to participate in the production of some small videos documenting the projects we support. These will appear online on the Solidaile site during the second half of the year and will allow visitors to our site to gain a more concrete idea of what we do.

Until the next Newsletter, the Solidaile team wishes to thank you for your invaluable support and the interest you have shown in our work and wishes you all a very Happy Holiday season

An exceptional evening planned by Solidaile for Saturday 2nd of June 2012 at “Trois Baudets”

For the 4th year running we are benefitting from the invaluable support of “Trois Baudets” who are providing the venue for an evening’s entertainment on Saturday 2nd June 2012, the entire proceeds of which will be donated to Solidaile.

Thanks to the remarkable work of Anne and Julie, Solidaile is offering an exceptional programme this year.

The evening starts at 8.30 pm with a concert for all lovers of French music. “Aldebert” will be performing.  This is the opportunity to discover the acoustic version of his new songs and to share his amusing and wry take on everyday life. Through his ironical lyrics he presents a powerful social satire which is nonetheless free of pretention and any political message. He will be preceded by a performance from “Jur” our latest favourite act.

The second half of the evening starts at 11.00 pm with a special programme of Soul/Funk music with “DJ Chabin”.

Funk…or nothing! DJ Chabin has been broadcasting Soul and Groove over the airwaves for the last thirty years from iconic places such as Bataclan, Rex and Le Globo. He is the DJ for the dance group “jeu  de jambs”, pioneers of  jazz-rock dance inFrance.

Please tell anyone you know and reserve your tickets as soon as possible on the Trois Baudets site http://www.lestroisbaudets.com   (Tickets are €15 or €12 concessionary rate for the concert and the evening for Funk is free.)

Coffee Plantations in Pichanaki and San Miguel

In 2011, Solidaile started work on two new collaborations in the central Peruvian jungle. Two trainee agronomists, Lenaig and Yaniick, spent 3 months working alongside local participants and wished to talk about these two projects in the Solidaile newsletter.

The first community involved is that of the Pucusani Union in Chanchamayo province,  in the department of Junin. Lire la suite →

A successful concert at 3 Baudets, a project at Huancavelica and staff updates

The Solidaile evening on 1st April was a huge success. This was thanks not only to the confidence 3 Baudets has shown in Solidaile for the third year running and the exceptional performances of the group Karpatt and DJ Sylvanie de Lutece but also to the public who attended (all tickets being sold via the internet) and the involvement and efforts of Anne and Julie. Videos, a concert at 3 Baudets and a new collaboration

There is something new on the Solidaile website! Albert and Quentin have produced and put online a series of short videos showing seven projects we are currently supporting. These two French students spent several days with the Local Cooperatives getting to know them and filming the various aspects of the work of the local people involved in these projects. On their return to France they continued to work on the production of these small documentaries which allow visitors to the Solidaile site to gain a more concrete understanding of the work we do. You can discover more about them by searching under the heading ‘Photos’ on the website. Lire la suite →

Latest news, looking forward to 2011 and a change of address

2010 has on the whole been a year of encouraging results for the projects supported by us in Peru. In Huancavelica, work continues on the Cielo Azul alternative tourism project and is sustained by a number of advertising initiatives both locally and regionally and by a constant search for new partnerships. Elsewhere our continued presence and involvement on site has been ensured thanks to the recruitment of some new volunteers. Lire la suite →

Supportive tourism in Huancavelica and the Cielo Azul project

Solidaile has been present in Huancavelica since 2006, supporting the local Cooperative of Pukullawa which offers educational programmes and activities for children and adolescents who have come from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The Cielo Azul agency which supports tourism connected to Pukullawa has been created with two objectives in mind: the first to generate new means with which to develop further Pukullawa’s activities; the second to give impetus to local tourism. We are convinced that when tourism is managed in a responsible and supportive way it can act as a vehicle for economical, social and cultural development for the local population. Lire la suite →
